Craftsmen began developing Windsor chairs as early as 1730, and their simple grace and durability quickly made them the most popular chair in Colonial America. Widely used, Windsor chairs could be found in farmhouses or on the floor of Carpenter’s Hall in Philadelphia where the first Continental Congress met in 1774.

Our Seven and Nine Spindle Windsor Chairs and Windsor Counter & Bar Stools use two different styles of back bows. When made from Cherry, the chair bows feature a rounded profile. When made from Oak or Pine, the chair bows feature a squared profile.
