We still build the backs of our furniture with solid wood.
In cases where the back is exposed, like a cupboard or bookcase, we use
a construction technique called shiplapping (see page 26 for details).
In other cases, such as a dresser, we use a combination of floating and
solid boards. Antiques were built this way, and such methods give our
furniture true, lasting strength. |
