A collection
of more than 25 independent workshops—many owned by Amish and Mennonite
families—builds nearly half of our furniture in Ohio and Pennsylvania.
These fine craftspeople share our philosophy of handcrafting furniture one
piece at a time using classic construction methods from the 19th century.
Each workshop specializes in building selected pieces for us. Some of our
Amish woodshops, such as Lee Miller’s (pictured here), use no outside
electricity. Instead, these shops rely on diesel motors to run air and oil
compressors to power their heavier equipment as well as to run small generators
that power their electric hand tools.
