We still build the backs of our furniture from solid wood, instead of using fake wood paneling. For our cupboards, we use a process that craftsmen call shiplapping. The technique involves fitting boards together by slightly overlapping each other via a carved groove. These joints then allow the wood to breathe naturally, as needed, without warping or cracking.
