Originally,
a canopy was an emblem of social station. In Byzantine and Medieval
times, only the most privileged had full canopies on their beds.
During the Renaissance, canopies were used less exclusively. Canopy
beds became popular in the American colonies because they conserved
warmth and provided privacy. Today, many people prefer to forgo
the canopy altogether, so our canopy is optional. Our Pencil Post
Bed comes standard with a Horizon Headboard, but we will gladly
substitute a Hillside or Sunrise Headboard at your request. Handbuilt in Oak or Cherry.
